My real early ‘70’s & ‘80’s stuff was recorded using 2 cassette decks (yes, when cassettes roamed the Earth!), whereby I would record on one deck and “bounce” the playback to the other deck while simultaneously recording on top of that and then going back and repeating the process again and again to achieve “multi track” recordings. Can you say “sonic mud”? The sound quality was slightly above that of a roomful of farts after a good bowl of chili.

My home recording equipment eventually migrated from recording on cassettes to modern digital recording equipment.  R.I.P. sonic mud!
