I actually wrote this in 1979 but didn’t get around to recording this version until 1985 on a Tascam  4 track cassette deck (stop laughing you younger musicians), back when REO Speedwagon was topping the charts. I imagined what kind of tune they might have written if they were a Christian band.  

Anyway, when I recorded this, the only way I could record all 8 tracks needed (2vocals, 2 acoustic guitars, 1 bass guitar, 1 lead guitar, 2 drums) was to record 4 tracks into the Tascam 4 track cassette deck. Then, I had to mix down those 4 tracks and record them into a stereo cassette deck. Then I had to play the cassette deck recording back into the 4 track cassette deck while recording the other 4 tracks. This accounts (as well as cassette tape aging) for the horrible tape hiss and lo-fi recording quality. See what you kids today are missing with all your incredible digital recording equipment today?
