This has a special place in my heart because it was one of my Mom’s favorite songs of mine. I would have never guessed she would like this. My Dad was more open to bluegrass & country than she was but she absolutely loved it. Go figure!
Another great memory is when Alan Dusel and I, while on a road trip to Virginia Beach, decided to spontaneously turn off an exit and visit the Grange County Fair. With instruments in hand, we set up and did an impromptu performance of several original tunes on a small stage, with “For A Song” being one of them. A group of people even asked for our autographs. One girl wanted know if we knew Dolly Parton, LOL. What a gas that experience was. Thanks for the memory Al.
I wrote this circa 1982 with country/bluegrass greats Ricky Skaggs and Peter Rowan in mind.
